INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE III
Report on Penang / Kuala Lumpur Excursion
In this 3days 2 night Penang trip, I have eye-opener by going to some historical places and heritage that British left in Penang. In the first day of the trip, we are going to a cafe which is called Sekeping Victoria. Sekeping Victoria's entrance facade was so much difference compare to the interior.

Sekeping Victoria's interior
For the Sekeping Victoria's entrance, it look simple and small but for the interior was way bigger than my imagine. Inside the Sekeping Victoria, the furniture was really modern and creative. The most interesting furniture that I unforgettable was the chair that made by steel bars which is not look like a normal chair.
Sekeping Victoria was also included a lot of nice design furniture and they also using those abandoned items which included old bicycle, broken wooden window and infant basket for decoration inside the cafe. The design was also interesting which how they placed the abandoned items.
After visiting Sekeping Victoria, I proceeded to Little India to do more research about forgotten culture. While i was walking, I spotted different type of traditional India accessories. I learnt that each accessories holds different meaning of their cultural god. On the street, I did hear India traditional music from their shops.
Throughout the whole Penang trip, I did notice there was many graffiti on the street walls. In the last few years since 2012, Penang Street Art has become a very popular tourist attraction in the old part of the city, so much so that you will often find crowds of people waiting to have their photo taken in front of the wall paintings. There are a number of official street arts in Georgetown, painted by a young Lithuanian artist named Ernest Zacharevic.
On the second day, we went to the Blue Mansion Penang for doing the site visit. I gather a lot of information about the forgotten culture in the Blue Mansion and the Instructor introduce us to the history of the Blue Mansion and Chinese traditional belief like "Feng Shui".
Moreover, I also found my 3 forgotten culture options in Blue Mansion. In Blue Mansion, there was displayed a lot of historical heritage and items which extinct already.
One of the forgotten culture which I had chosen was the Chinese traditional wedding bed from the emperor, these beautifully carved and ornate beds, constructed without nails. It is believed that the new Chinese Republican Government of 1911 stopped their export in 1920 as they were reminiscent of the royal lifestyle. It is here that the infamous 'white handkerchief' test took place, a symbol of the bride's virginity to be presented to her mother-in-law.
1.CHINESE TRADITIONAL WEDDING BED
2.TRADITIONAL CHINESE PILLOWS
Second was the traditional Chinese pillows of timber and lacquer or woven straw or thin rattan, these were often to support the base of the head and neck especially when the user had a coiled hair-bun or large braid.
3.CHINESE MARBLE INSERT HARDWOOD ARMCHAIR
Chinese pair of hardwood chairs with dramatic marble graining inset into the back of each chair. Elegant scroll designs are used throughout the carving of the hardwood. Beautiful original dark hardwood finish in wonderful condition. The chair is very heavy in weight. Combining pieces of wood together using nothing more than the wood itself is a traditional carpenter's craft in ancient China. The protruding part is called the "tenon" and recessed part is called the "mortise".
Moreover, there was some forgotten heritage also in Blue Mansion. There was some of the historical musical instrument and wapan handcraft items.
