BIA 2019-3 : IDS60404 IADII
In semester 2, I was assigned to design a cafe in three projects. Firstly, project 1 is to demonstrate the window/wall display, while project 2 is to create a perspective/section/tunnel book, and lastly project 3 will be the overall design the structure of cafe. These 3 assignments are a connection which bring us to know how to create a cafe really well.During the whole process, I have learned different skills and how to compile and present my ideas through a number of practice and presentations. In between, I have sought help from Miss Diana, Sir Romzi and Miss Hanim.
Also I was given the opportunity to go for a visit in Sekeping Serendah in which we did our selection for our cafe placement. In this activity, I managed to learn how to measure the building in terms of its scales and sizes. When searching for a good environment for my cafe, I encounter problems because i needed to consider issues such as having to find a unique and crowded pathway.Besides that, I have also learned a lot from my peers that hold various interesting and creative design ideas. We helped each other by sharing opinions and working together.
Overall, it was a really fruitful experience that I got to involve in different situations and learn from many types of people including lecturers and friends. The whole process has provided me independence, growth and fun. Lastly, I would like to thank all the people and encounters in this semester.
Project 1
'Made - To - Order'

Task 1

For our first assignment, we have to choose our own coffee/tea and desert. In the beginning, I had choose tea c ice and ondeh-ondeh as my drink and desert, but I have changed to liquor tea and ufo tart since it was a advise from lecturer and I need to create a unique drink and desert. For the desert as I chosen the ufo tart because it is special since the desert was only have in Sabah.
Moreover, the major of the assignment was the window display/wall display. During the selection of material, I had chosen the textile as my main material, so for my window display’s structure must contains of textile of design. I have used crepe paper and sticks for my window display. But first of all, the picture below was shown as my first ideas of the window display.
After the advise from lecturer, i had change the design and finailize my model.

My window display is a design as a lantern which known as a brightness of the nature which symbolize the café like lantern protecting the nature as fire/light. The meaning of my window display is the guardian of nature. The purpose of designing using the tent shape because it function as a protection/guardian. The idea of designing inside because of the interactive part on customer. Lastly, i think the idea of model is good to be part my building as window display. From this assignment, it can really express my functional idea and thinking ability.
Project 2

For the assignment 2, I had chosen to make a tunnel book by showing the front elevation of the café.
After the discussion with lecturer, Miss Hanim, she approved and decide to proceed to make a tunnel book. Which my tutor giving me some advises on it and she mention a lot opportunity for doing the tunnel on my site content.
The assignment I have doing all of the design with same colour, for the first submission. After a resubmission, I added the white colour of my site content which is the ramp and the café. Moreover, I also added an orange colour to my café glass which is the important to highlight all the important part and details. I choose the orange colour of my model because orange is a good represent of sun and nature.
Furthermore, from this assignment, I do learnt a lot in making a details design because every details is important in tunnel book which can bring the model up to impress. The tunnel is popping inside the model as it’s really difficult to make it and patient. Doing a tunnel book, the depth is an important element to see the layer inside of it.I do wish can have this kind of assignment in my next semester although it difficult but it is fun and excitement of doing it.

In the final project of semester 2, we are told by the lecturer to make a container café with 2400m (width) x 2850m (height) x 12000m (length) of container and 2400m (width) x 2850m (height) x 6000 (length) of another container combine together become a café. In the beginning, we are told to be thinking our own café’s activity and the WH questions which is “WHAT”, “WHERE”, “WHEN”, “WHY” AND “HOW”.

These the elements inside the presentation which i need to do it in Autocad and Sketchup first after putting into the presentation board.
This is my presentation board, which i decided to use black and white and orange colour only to design my board because i think that adding too many colour will make the board look complicated and messy. So that, choosing less colour will make the board look clean. The reason why i colour orange as theme because the cafe's theme was orange as beginning so orange colour for board is a good option for me.

REFLECTION
For the progress of the designing, I do see the improvement and mature of myself, I have learnt how to use the space although it’s insufficient to be a bigger space by making the container café. Moreover, I do learnt the design of specialize of the part of the building and how to create a multifunctional furniture. I have learnt on how to approach to nature also by designing. The space is important also to be uses for people to fulfil the activity. So the connection of the space and people can be interactive which know that the design function of itself.

Lastly, i do enjoy every single assignment on this semester which bring fun and challenge for me. By the way, i do satisfied my work and passion on this semester.

During the presentation day, we need to provide our own beverages and drink for our own preparation on that day. I do make my own liquor tea by myself, ingredient was sabah tea, mint and black label and for the dessert was bullhead tart which is ufo tart. The liquor tea and bullhead tart was a good combination together, having a tea first bring the bitter taste and after bullhead tart will zoom out the sweetness of it.
